70th anniversary Fender Broadcaster now in store at Five Star Music!

Now HERE is something that will take you back in time. We’ve been lucky enough to recieve one of the 70th anniversary Broadcasters in store!

Let me tell you a story of the famed Broadcaster guitar.

Once upon a time in a marketing meeting far far away, the powers that were at Fender developed and produced a guitar that would come to redefine the 6-stringed industry. This little guitar became known as the Broadcaster.

Then, disaster struck, when Fender received a cease and desist via telegram from the Gretsch-owned BroadKaster, ordering them to stop using the name “Broadcaster”. For a short time, these guitars came out with no name, and were dubbed the “nocaster”.

The original Broadcaster models however became highly collectable, with only about 250 though to have been produced. These guitars have firmly cemented themselves as a part of Fender’s history.

What’t that you say? The Broadcaster looks eerily familiar? That’s because it is!

After a short while, the ‘nocaster’ was eventually named the Telecaster, a name that has (obviously) stuck around until today.

So, if you’re a huge telecaster fan, or a Fender collector, then this guitar is most definitely one to check out!

Features include an ash body with Blackguard Blonde lacquer finish, period-correct black phenolic pickguard, thick “U”-shaped neck, Custom Shop-designed ’50-’51 Blackguard pickups, special anniversary neck plate, embroidered case and a custom Certificate of Authenticity.

The controls are wired for standard Telecaster operation, while an optional original Broadcaster wiring kit, included in the case, can be installed to replicate the unique “blend” circuit used in original Broadcasters. If this is something you’d be interested in, just let us know and our techs can get it installed for you!

The gods of synth wave have graced us with yet another steller analog synth, this time in the form of the brand-spanking new Behringer Crave!

Featuring a heavenly pure analog signal path based on authentic VCO, VCF and VCA designs with the legendary Prophet 5 VCO design, this synth is definitely a blast from the past!

Great care has been taken in engineering the CRAVE, including the true to the original analog circuitry, legendary VCO, VCF and VCA designs, all of which combine to make it easy to recreate the classic sound performance. This highly-focused attention to detail is what gives the CRAVE its ultra-flexible sound shaping capability, which covers everything from super-fat bass and lead tones to stunning effects – and all the way out to the otherworldly sounds of your imagination.

CRAVE has 47 controls, all laid out in a highly-intuitive format that puts the joy back into your music creation. And you can expand CRAVE’s tone-sculpting capabilities beyond your wildest dreams by utilizing the 18 x 14 I/O matrix for incredibly vast and flexible patching options!

In addition to the great sound-sculpting features already mentioned, the CRAVE has still more to offer. The noise generator can also be used as modulation source to create distortion-like effects, which will send your solo soaring into the stratosphere. Glide (portamento) lets you sweep seamlessly over time from one note to the next, creating smooth-as-silk transitions that few other instruments can emulate. You can even modulate the pulse wave via the LFO, envelope or manually – for sounds ranging from mild to wild!

So basically, the Crave is a synth that has us all excited – and for all the right reasons too! Fender Player Lead Series Guitars Now In Stock!

New to Five Star Music are the Fender Player Lead series guitars! A much anticipated reissue of the cult favourite guitar of the late 70s, these guitars are certain to become the hottest new item of 2020. We’ve had these guys on order since their announcement late last year, and the first stock has finally arrived!

The Features

Featuring a light-weight, comfortable body shape with a modern ‘C’ shape neck and your choice of either a double humbucker or double single coil pick configuration, these guitars are sure to tick all of your guitar playing boxes!

The Player Lead II additionally features Player Series Stratocaster style single coil pickups (in a dual-slanted formation) and a two-way phase toggle switch for expanded tonal possibilities!

The Player III, on the other hand, features two alnico humbucking pickups with the option of coil splits! So versatile!

Personally, we’re loving this new range here at the shop. The colours are certainly a blast from the past, and the modern ‘C’ neck just feels like butter. Combined with the comfortable and light weight body, these guitars are a real hit. They certainly get our stamp of approval!

“Teasing the synth community a month ago with their secret Model D “warp drive” video, Behringer have taken everyone by surprise by announcing the POLY D that features a 37- full sized keys and four analog VCOs letting you enjoy the fat lead and bass sounds via a four note polyphony.

There’s a choice of triangle/saw, saw, square, wide pulse and narrow pulse waveforms on the first three oscillators, while the fourth is able to access triangle, reverse saw, saw, square, wide pulse and narrow pulse to give you a variety of tonal possibilities. The POLY D features the classic 24dB latter filter that Moog synthesizers are well renowned for, an LFO, inbuilt distortion circuit, a stereo Bucket Brigade Delay chorus based on the Juno-60, a 32-step sequencer and an arpeggiator.”
